Parametric Perfect-Fit Cable Organizer Spool

This parametric script generates a custom-sized two-piece cable spool tailored precisely to your specific cable dimensions. Using built-in mathematical optimization, it calculates the winding geometry layer-by-layer so that when fully wound, the cable terminates perfectly—leaving both connectors resting exactly at the dedicated locking snap-holders on opposite sides of the spool.

Key Features

• Perfect Fit Termination: The underlying script computes concentric oval paths based on your cable’s length and diameter. It guarantees that the cable winds flat without overlaps and finishes precisely at the integrated U-clips for a secure, wiggle-free lock.
• Support-Free Printing: Both halves feature 45-degree chamfers and horizontal joints designed to print flat on the build plate without requiring any 3D printing support material.
• Print-in-Place Locking Joint: The slider uses a standard male/female V-rail configuration with entry funnels and integrated retention bumps. Both halves snap tightly together, forming a rigid core.
• Lightweight Honeycomb Pattern: The flanges feature an automated weight-reduction hexagon matrix that saves filament, speeds up printing, and lets you inspect the wound cable.

Customization & Parametric Flexibility

Using the portal's built-in configurator, you can fully adjust the look and size of the spool without modifying the code:

• Cable Geometry: Input any total cable length between connectors and exact diameter (1.0mm up to 10.0mm).
• Winding Profile: Control the aspect ratio by changing Turns_Per_Layer. A lower number makes the spool wider and thinner; a higher number makes it narrower and taller. 
• Mechanical Tolerances: Adjust the slider fit (Tolerance) and lock strength (Snap_Bump_Radius) to suit your 3D printer's precision. (usually pre-set value should be fine)

Parts and Assembly Guide

The script exports two independent interlocking components meant to be printed flat side down:

1. Part 1 (Bottom Female half): Features the outer core walls with internal V-grooves and a top-side cable snap-holder.
2. Part 2 (Top Male half): Features the inner core walls with protruding V-rails and a bottom-side cable snap-holder.

Multi-Color & Material Customization

Because the design is split into two equal components, you can easily customize the visual appearance:

• Two-Tone Aesthetics: Print Part 1 and Part 2 in contrasting colors (e.g., Matte Black and Rocket Grey) to highlight the hexagonal grid patterns.
