AIRCORE: Lightweight Floating Grip for GoPro, DJI Osmo Action, Insta360, and More

A Single 5m nut MUST be inserted into the prongs to screw it in! (You can get these at most hardware stores)

A lightweight floating grip designed for action cameras. This version was modified to maximize buoyancy while keeping print weight as low as possible.

The grip uses a large sealed air chamber and a smooth exterior to reduce filament usage, improve flotation, and shorten print time. It is compatible with any action camera that can be attached using a standard GoPro-style mount or adapter.

Tested Results

• Actual printed weight: 55.6g
• Tested payload: 267.8g
• Test payload was a dense rock weighing 267.8g

• The grip floated excellently during testing (see pictures and GIF)

  

This means it will work with almost all action cameras without a bunch of accessories (weigh your rig before printing if you can)

Print Recommendations

• PETG is recommended for durability and heat resistance.
• Ensure your print is airtight before use.
• Do NOT change settings (At risk of losing seal)
• Test your complete camera setup in a controlled environment before using it in open water.

•  I sealed mine with superglue at all the edges just to be safe, as FDM printing isn't perfect

Important Note

If your print is not airtight, check your filament and printer calibration first. Do NOT modify print speeds. Poorly dried filament, extrusion inconsistencies, or machine issues are more likely causes than print speed.

If necessary, small leaks can be patched with epoxy, UV resin, or another suitable sealant. If the print is produced correctly, additional sealing should not be necessary.
