Description
The design essence of the "Lighthouse Star" night light is an existential spiritual reconstruction that uses matter as a carrier and light and shadow as a medium. Amidst the hustle and bustle of daylight, individuals are forced to conceal their edges, compromising with various conventional rules and orders. But when night falls, this object with sharp facets and warm, gentle light is illuminated, not only brightening physical corners but also psychologically re-establishing the boundaries of "self" for the individual. Under the combined discipline of modernity's transformation and homogenized consumerism, individual uniqueness faces unprecedented pressure to dissolve. Society commonly circulates a false narrative about "maturity," equating it with having one's edges smoothed by secularity and customs, becoming sophisticated and pragmatic. However, this castration of individuality is not true growth but rather premature mental aging and the demise of personality. Borges once described the cruelty of this commonplace force with an extremely weathered pen: long years shrink a person, polishing away all edges, just like water smooths stones or proverbs refined over generations. This process of forcibly "smoothing out edges" constitutes repeated violent discipline of heterogeneous souls, its logic identical to the implicit oppression left-handers face in being "corrected" and "indoctrinated" to adapt to a right-handed world, ultimately resulting in the loss of original perception, crooked handwriting, and becoming a standardized part on an assembly line. "Lighthouse Star" whispers to every unyielding soul: In this boundless dark night, you don't need to smooth your edges, for here, you are the one and only, most cherished preference.
