As another home project, I tried out building DIY watches and mods, which require a lot of tools and parts, so I wanted to make a dedicated storage box for them.
It has four TPU legs provide grip and function as a positioning pin for stacking in case of multiple boxes.
Additional d8x2mm magnets provide the closing force, if the printed lock is not enough. In my print the magnets are firmly stuck in the pocket, however applying a little amount of glue can be necessary depending on the selected filament and printer.
I printed the top and bottom part from PLA Wood filament, which gives the overall look and asthetics, however any material is compatible.
TPU legs are optional. Using the same material as the top and bottom parts or inner compartments, only 3 plates are needed.
The compartment inside the top part usually a thight fit to prevent loose connections. Opening the drawer is easier when the box is also opened. Adding the same d8x2mm magnets will give extra locking force.
For each part of the model, I used:
- 0.4 mm nozzle
- 0.2 mm layer height
- 5% gyroid infill
- brim for big, flat base areas
I bought all the tools on Aliexpress. If you don't have the tools yet, here's the list of parts I ordered to help you get started. Also, these parts are 100% compatible with the box.

!!!The whole box costs ~740g filament and 18+ hours to print, so consider it a bit more expensive print. Make sure to clean the bulid plate properly after each print to prevent warping!!!
