Description

I took a few days to rework “Chenwei's AMS stand” to include a plate holder, tron themed inlays, and I also to fix issues I had with the drawers. The inlays are not painted on, they are actually models that I hollowed out of the parts and then inserted the models. This way you get a much cleaner and more prominent effect.

Nice print - understanding that it's a remix I don't know which parts to evaluate here correctly. First, the Tron theme is pretty cool, especially since it's the original movie. I chose to print this in PLA black, with Glow in the dark blue for the graphics (and glow in the dark red for the recognizer) I broke a drawer while assembling it - but since that drawer front fits on there so tight, it is holding up just fine and can't even tell it cracked along the drawer slide. I do believe the fit of this is a bit tight. I used a little soap on those connections to help them slide together, after a bit of sanding to bevel some edges. the stud of one of the front top connections broke off in the hole as I was putting it together - a dab of hot glue and it's good to go. The plates in the download are a little difficult to understand - there are too many parts. It's not clear which to print and for what reasons. The back plates with the extra connections might not be needed if you just want it smooth. This should be noted somewhere, and it might be on Chenwei's original, but even yet I haven't looked at that one. There are two different plate holders - which do you want? I decided on just the one on the side - I want to use the plates to block any sunlight from cooking the AMS in the case I don't keep those blinds closed on a summer morning. The drawer front with the people and tron logo had some alignment issues with the coloring sections. I couldn't reassign the colors well to my AMS slots, so eventually I just changed which slots the filament is in to match. what I needed. The recognizer, I painted in the prepare tab. Had to use the bucket, but that only changed the surface and the blue would have been the second layer - I used the sphere to get it deeper. I built the legs out of TPU with 4 walls and 50% infill, but I think I'll make more of them that are shorter. They fit tight in the holes and are soft without being wobbly. I used a little torch to heat the holes for the knobs just a touch, so they would go in - otherwise the threads just weren't working for me. Be careful not to heat too much or you'll twist the melted PLA instead of stretching for the threads. In my photo I forgot to charge the top and bottom lines, but they do glow as well - just not very good with this brand of blue glow filament "Dikale" brand from the big "A", which also came on a spool too large for the AMS - I wouldn't buy it again. Overall, great model to build - it even brought a smile to my wife's face, and she's a tough one to impress.

I had issues with the original design's draws being to tight. I actually modified the drawers tracks to be wider and also rounded out the center pieces draw grooves to make it fit much better. I didn't even think about using glow in the dark filament. Yours looks awesome !
