Parametric Page Cover / Bookmark
A minimalistic dual-purpose bookmark designed for book lovers.
This model works both as:
- a regular bookmark while reading
- and a protective top cover for the exposed page edges while the book sits on a shelf
The curved top edge gently covers the exposed top edges of the pages, helping reduce dust accumulation and sunlight exposure while the book is on the shelves.
The bookmark is 0.4 mm thick (two 0.2 mm layers), making it flexible and lightweight print (about 1-2 grams per bookmark).
The top layer can optionally contain engraved text:
- book title
- author
- custom labels
- library organization
- gifts and personalization
Because the text is carved only from the top layer, light can pass through the letters when held against light.

Parameters
width
Width of the bookmark in millimeters.
length
Total bookmark length in millimeters.
top_radius
Controls the curved protective arch. (also in millimeters, generally go for a number about 2-3x of the width)
- 0 = flat rectangular bookmark
- width / 2 = half circle
- width = nice, visible curve
- width * 2 = gentle curve
The curve always connects perfectly to the two upper corners of the bookmark.
text_line_1 / 2 / 3
Leave empty to disable.
font
OpenSCAD font name.
Examples:
- Liberation Sans:style=Bold
- Liberation Serif:style=Bold
- Arial
- DejaVu Sans
font_size
Controls engraved text size.
Note: Different font sizes will look good on different bookmark sizes. Experiment.
Other Notes
The engraved text is mirrored internally so it reads correctly when viewed from the printed bottom side of the bookmark.
This creates a subtle translucent effect when light passes through the engraved areas.
Recommended Settings
- Layer height: 0.2 mm
