Description
A clamping latch I developed to easily open and close a 2-part pipe adapter
This was a project-integrated model for which I added a base plate and an alignment template
Assembly:
- lay out both base plates, the spacer template, and mounting screws (tools for the screws, of course, as well)
- screw on one of the two base plates
- place the template against the mounted base plate and now insert the other base plate flush into the other recess
- now screw down the second base plate and then remove the template
- now complete the clamp with the remaining parts
- insert the lever and push in the longer shaft
- insert the bracket and push in the shorter shaft
- put a little superglue into the end caps (only lightly moisten the inside and do not fill)
- attach the end caps and press firmly onto the shaft (clamp grip shaft and cap) both must sit flush
- Done
! 0.12mm layer profiles have a second print plate with a modified model with flush-fitting countersunk shafts!
Only attach the end cap of the shafts to the part after you have mounted the clamp. Otherwise, you will hardly be able to remove the shaft again
+ 0.2mm PLA compact version (12.05.2026)
+ 0.2mm PLA extremely compact version (15.05.2026)
+ 0.2mm ASA compact version (15.05.2026)
A little promotion for my new model: Filament Clip (17.05.2026)
https://makerworld.com/en/models/2813824-filament-clip#profileId-3132438

I developed the clamping latch for ASA material (ABS should also work well) (PLA profile added)
Shafts are fixed with the cap after insertion ( a little superglue in the cap please)
But please screw it on first. otherwise, a mounting point will be covered.
Alternatively, M4 screws of 24mm and 30mm length can be used (longer is always possible, of course),
but you should not overtighten and use threadlocker or self-locking nuts
The template is designed for a tension of 2mm
Dimensions of the normal version (mounting surface only): 78 (71) x 32 (26) x 22.3mm
Print:
ASA print profile includes a raft for critical parts (parts with a small contact surface or greater height)
Print profile includes scaling for ASA (x=101%, y=101%, z=100.7%)
ASA tested without raft, but with strong warping on the bracket and slightly on the counter holder. Therefore not recommended.
PLA print profile added without raft and without scaling (tested in PLA Silk+ Candy Green)
possible post-processing:
Depending on the printer calibration, the shafts can be quite tight with a 0.2mm layer profile
Scratching slightly over the shaft layers with a knife may be enough
Please also give me feedback on how it fits for you
planned, in test and results:
- Print model for PLA without raft and scaling (test running 02.05.2026) / Profile added (02.06.2026)
- Test in ABS without raft - tested / too strong warping and please print only with raft (03.06.2026)
- Reduce base plate to minimum sensible size for 2-screw mounting, counter-piece slightly wider / ASA profile added (03.05.2026)
/ PLA profile added (08.05.2026) - Equip counter-piece and clamping bracket with a notch for centering during clamping. / ASA profile added (03.05.2026)
/ PLA profile added (08.05.2026) - Maximize reduction of the bracket-side base plate with adjustment of the operating lever / PLA profile added (08.05.2026)
- Add ABS / ASA profiles (10.05.2026)
- Add 0.12mm layer versions, for finer finish and smoother shafts to insert (PLA profiles online 11.05.2026)
- Countersunk shafts with end piece and adapted holder/lever with countersunk holes (0.12mm PLA versions online 11.05.2026)
- Adjust partially the support distances for 0.2mm versions (11.05.2026) / Compact version adjusted (12.05.2026)
- Reduce minimal layer time again for 0.2mm versions (11.05.2026) / Compact version adjusted (12.05.2026)
- Test of 0.2mm versions with countersunk shafts (11.05.2026) / Compact version test successful (profile published 12.05.2026)
- Since the first countersunk test for 0.2mm version was successful. I will optimize the normal version for 4mm screws (12.05.2026)
