Every summer we have a problem with ants invading the house. I have previously tried to control them using comercial poisons with varying levels of success, so I decided to try and make a trap.

It prints in 2 parts which fit together. I used dry cat food for bait as the ants really seem to love it. Just put some in the middle of the trap and make sure it isn't directly under the hole as that would enable the ants to climb out. The ants should walk up the ramp and into the centre of the trap, and once there they hopefully won't be able to get out.
If you want to kill them, I recommend using diatomaceous earth which you can easily find on Amazon. This is non-toxic to humans (just don't breathe in the dust!) and pets and kills the ants by damaging their exoskeleton. Just sprinkle it in the outer ring of the trap and make sure there are no clumps or lumps. Set the trap near to where you see the ants and wait. You should inspect the trap regularly and change the bait as needed.
I put two different models in the print profile. On one plate there is a trap with a 5mm gap suitable for ants of about 5mm in length. This is the one I had most success with.
On the other, there is a model with a 3mm gap which should be more suitable for smaller ants.
Both models print without supports and can be printed in PLA or PETG.
The success you have may vary according to the ants you are trying to catch. There are many species and sizes so I can't guarantee it will work in your case.
