Description

This is an insert for Cysmic, an incredible game from the blood, sweat, and tears of Jason Blake in which you are building a huge colony ship to escape a dying world. It's a tense, action-packed ride for 1-6 players that had a very bumpy course on its way to an amazing production and fulfillment this year. If you're unfamiliar with the game, I encourage you to visit the page and read through the campaign updates, as Jason pulls back the curtain of crowdfunding and shares what most projects do not.

This project is what crowdfunding was meant for, and it has been a pure pleasure watching it cross the finish line.  https://gamefound.com/en/projects/star-reach-games/cysmic

Let me be clear--the stock insert is excellent. In a world where components are typically tossed into boxes with cheap baggies or, worse, pseudo-cardboard-inserts, Jason spent a great deal of effort to make the insert a functional part of the box. And he succeeded! So why make a new one? I make inserts for games that I love, ones that I want to have hit the table as soon and as many times as possible. I have included some minor quality of life improvements and organizational choices that I prefer for my own setup habits, as well as removal and storage sequences that make sense to me.

This is a filament-heavy insert. That being said, the “main” part of it is approx 2.4kg and comprises the top ⅔ of what you see in the initial picture (everything but player boxes). The new player boxes equal ~2.1kg  filament, but are ultimately optional as the stock player trays can fit in the same spot (see picture 16). The overall weight of the box with everything printed as shown is 27lb.

For the split files I highly recommend a strong adhesive. I use the following 2-part CA glue with activator spray: https://www.amazon.com/MITREAPEL-Adhesive-Activator-Plastic-Leather/dp/B07Y6LTNDW?th=1

I wanted the ships on full display after opening the box, hence the ship hangar. There is an anchor that fits behind to help stabilize them and prevent tipping during movement.

[Top] Map tray: map board, rulebooks, map rim (split into 2 stacks), Cysmograph, player aids, and euro/co-op trays

[Middle] Setup tray: map hexes, habitat tray, relics, launch button, euro/co-op cards cubes and flags, strike dice and Humanity die

Hex trays are meant to be kept near their associated map wedge to assist with table tidiness as the planet falls apart!

[Bottom] Platter: cards, resources, and token bag

[Very bottom] Player boxes and boards
