Description

From Appa1990's (https://www.printables.com/social/278703-appa1990/about) file grab, either here or on Thingiverse.

Should scale up fine, smaller will get trickier. It will need supports. Dot of glue for the rudder.

Printed here in PLA, 0.15mm layers.

The sail is designed to work with 0.2mm first layer, 0.15mm for the rest. Colour change after 0.35mm. Setting infill to 0 degrees instead of 45 seemed to work. Form the sail with just not-boilng water with a wine bottle and a chopstic or simmilar.

love this thing, everything turned out perfect. Got it for my 3 year old to play in a bath, expect the head and tail to break off as they are pretty fragile. Did mast in petg so it would be more flexible. Used FLASHFORGE Marsala and Silk pink yellow pla for sail

Thanks. I'm very fond of this little ship, but I admit I never considered putting her to sea. Good idea to use PETG for the mast. So much of 3D printing is learning how to make best use of the various plastics, and how to optimize a print's orientation for accuracy or strength, or in this case flexibility.

Excellent, detailed model of a longboat. My Scandinavian spouse is very pleased.

Very cool piece, I wish the ors and mast where just 1 mm larger but not a big deal at all! Thanks for uploading!

Support Issue:circles didn’t print neither did the tip of the mast

I didn't get usable circles either, but I did get a very pretty ship using the profile I posted. I noticed the poster of the original model also clipped what remained of the circles and twisted the loops from the sail as I did. In my defense, I did include a warning in the print profile: "Some elements are too small to print, but clipping them off won't detract from the appearance much" Some details from real world models simply don't render well at scale in a 254mm cube. If this is too problematic, I can remove the print profile, but the model isn't mine. Thanks,
