Description

This mini hawk is a box opening monster and makes for a unique and cool looking display piece. I've found a lot of awesome models on this app and wanted to contribute something back to this great community, hopefully someone out there likes it as much as I do. The UtiliHawk uses replaceable standard size trapezoid utility blades as the cutting edge.

The print profile I'm uploading runs at 100% infill. I realize that model strength hits diminishing returns once you hit certain infill thresholds but it just felt too light using lesser amounts.  The uploaded profile feels just about perfect to me in terms of weight for the finished size with strength being an additional bonus. Once assembled with all hardware you'll have a total model weight of about 120 grams give or take which to me seemed pretty solid and capable for shipping box destruction.

I have printed the UtiliHawk using a ton of different filaments and they have all come out very clean so far. Usability-wise I like PETG for the body sections as it holds up well to use. The same usability concerns don't apply to the handles of course and I've had great results with a variety of PLA colors/manufacturers. The UtiliHawk body and handle pieces are on separate plates so you can mix and match filament and colors easily depending on the desired look and filament type you'd like to utilize for each component.

I am currently working on a number of different UtiliHawk two and three blade variants to add a beard and tail spike to the current design. Not sure if this model will see any interest at all but if you like it and would be interested in additional configurations as they are created please let me know with a Boost!

Additional hardware needed to complete the build-

(5) M3*14 and (5) M3*6 screws (I used socket cap screws in the pics)

(10) M3 nuts, you'll need 1 per screw

(1) Standard dimension trapezoid utility blade
