Design Inspiration

Since there is no AMS, this feeder/retractor was specially designed to facilitate feeding and retracting filament when changing printing material.

Project Features

Unlike other solutions, this design has the following features:

  1. Uses threaded locking for the filament tube, enhancing overall aesthetics to some extent;
  2. Furthermore, this design features a hidden approach, concealing the feeder/retractor roller inside the device to improve aesthetics;
  3. The feeder/retractor roller uses bearings as rotating parts, reducing rotational friction when the roller spins;
  4. When the feeder/retractor is working, the wheel rotates with the filament, creating a dynamic aesthetic.

Material Requirements

  1. Bearing*1: Model 683zz, ID 3*OD 7*Thickness 3;
  2. Bearing*1: Model MR104ZZ, ID 4*OD 10*Thickness 10;
  3. Silicone O-rings*2: OD 15*2;
  4. Heat shrink tubing: 3x heat shrink tubing, diameter 8mm;
  5. PTFE tube*1m: ID 2.5*OD 4.

Special Attention:

  1. The filament tube locking nuts on both sides must only be tightened after the filament tube has been inserted;
  2. The filament tube locking nuts must not be overtightened, especially when the locking nut has already been rotated into place, do not continue to tighten, otherwise it will damage the threads of the feeder/retractor body!
