Gym David
Print Profile(1)

Description
This statue represents a modern and ironic reinterpretation of Michelangelo's famous David. The figure retains the harmonious proportions and detailed anatomy typical of the original, but is transformed into a contemporary athlete.
David is depicted in a dynamic pose, with his legs spread and slightly bent, as if in the middle of an exercise. In his hands, he grips two gym dumbbells, which he lifts to shoulder height, mimicking a bicep curl movement. The muscles of the torso, arms, and legs are sculpted with great definition, emphasizing strength and tension.
His face, however, retains a concentrated and classical expression, creating an interesting contrast between Renaissance elegance and the modern fitness context. His attire also contributes to this contrast: instead of the original nudity, he wears a pair of sports shorts.
The base of the statue is simple, with a slightly textured surface, reminiscent of a floor or stylized ground. The uniform white color evokes marble, paying homage to sculptural tradition, while the subject introduces a contemporary and playful element.
