This is a remix of two models to make Millennium Falcon Christmas Tree Topper with an EL wire light up engine.
I used OnShape and Meshmixer to design the parts i needed to add and subtract to the existing ones.
The tree topper cone had holes to add zip ties to hold it more securely to the tree top.
I printed with 10% infill, 2 walls, 0.2mm layer height and no supports in Black PLA.
I then spray painted it white and add some weathering with black and brown acrylic paint. I then went over with some of my kids red, orange and blue makers for some extra pop.
I used this Ice Blue EL wire i found on AliExpress for a few dollars.
Assembly
- Insert EL wire from inside the back half through the holes, then run it to the other side, loop it around and go back, I ended up doing 3 Lines of EL wire in the engine.
- Using the extra EL Wire I slid it up into the cockpit using the hole I added then made a tight little bundle and stuck it in there. This is completely unnecessary as you cant see it at all.
- Glue the 2 halves together using the alignment pins and put it on the stand. After a few layers of paint it have a strong friction fit on the stand so I didn't bother gluing it so I can add it too a different display stand after Christmas.
- I repurposed a bit of stuffing that fell out of one of my daughters stuffed toys, rolled it into a cigar shape then glued it on to diffuse the light a bit.
