Description

Ultralight Filament Drybox System

Keeping filament dry and protected from UV damage shouldn’t require bulky containers or expensive storage systems.

This ultralight modular drybox stores filament securely with a desiccant spool installed while using only 245g of filament per container.

The design is optimized for dense shelving and print farms, allowing large filament collections to be stored in a compact and organized way.

This project has been six months in development, and it was finally time to stop refining and put it out in the world.

I plan to update this listing with additional documentation and possibly a video walkthrough in the future.

If you print one, I’d love to see your setup — feel free to post a make!

Features

Ultralight design — only 245g of filament (that's four canisters per 1kg spool)
Stackable modular system providing scalable storage for large filament collections
Compatible with standard 1kg spools
• Allows a desiccant spool to stay installed during storage for superior moisture control

Internal crenellations allow air circulation when sealed — desiccant can only control moisture when the air can reach it
Threaded lid for an excellent seal, with a channel for optional 3mm weather stripping (ideal for high humidity climates)
Integrated front swatch slot for filament identification, ideal for 40×30mm thermal labels
Ergonomic lid removal tool for stuck lids

Optional bench mount holder for users with limited hand strength or mobility

Compatibility

Tested with common spool formats including:

• Bambu Lab
• Creality
• Polymaker
• Elegoo
• Sunlu

…and many other standard 1kg spools (~200mm diameter).

Usage

Add silica gel packets* or a desiccant spool holder (This is the spool we use

Print a swatch and attach a 40×30mm thermal label

Install a 3mm round weather stripping gasket in the lid for high-humidity environments (The mini spool we use to store it)

*You can also recycle and recharge the silica gel packets that come with filament. We do this for many of our less-used filaments to save money and reduce waste.

Included Files

• Canister
• Lid
• Filament swatch insert (setup for 40×30mm labels)
• Lid removal tool (requires two M3×12mm countersunk screws)
• Optional bench mount canister holder (requires two #4 wood screws or similar)

All parts are arranged for efficient printing and minimal material use.

Printing

Recommended settings:

• 0.4mm nozzle
• 0.2mm layer height
• 3–4 walls
• 15–20% infill
