Description

Present to you V1 of Airless Ping Pong Ball ! The design was created to match international game regulation - mass of 2.7 grams (0.095 oz) and a diameter of 40 millimetres (1.57 in). Altough the mass is still 10% off, coming in in 3 grams, the bounce is actually really similar!

Please do Print it with some stronger PLA, like PLA tough or super PLA+. A strong ABS/ASA is also a good choice, but a more rigid material will work better.

Currently working on the model so it works better with a bigger variety of less strong PLA's.

Thanks to your amazing help and feedback, version 2.0 is now up! Slight adjustments, Big results, check it out! - https://makerworld.com/en/models/376178#profileId-276163

Nice design and profile, I might try to slow down the printing speed to improve the quality a little bit more.

Absolutely brilliant and printed without any issues, only thing is the support base is kind of difficult to remove, be gentle and keep your balls in tact... 👌

Printing worked quite well. Removing the support is an issue because parts of the support can only be pushed to the inside. Additinally there is some grinding needed to get the lower side round

Hey man, thanks for the feedback! I never really had an hard time taking the supports out, but I've uploaded a version 2.0 where one thing that was improved it that it has less of a support interface, so maybe that could help, check it out! https://makerworld.com/models/376178

printed on Clear Sunlu ABS on the Enginnering Bed absolutely without issues. Bounces quite well (7 bounces when dropped from 10cm high) only needed revision on the model is the flat portion that is in contact with the printing plate. I’ll give it another try, after reviewing the model for complete sphere, with a raft

thanks man, great to hear! I'm actually refining the model geometry rn, and yes I do agree that the flat portion still needs work. I do want to improve the support interface for the ball, but currently don't really have any ideia.
