Inspired by HenkK's design on Thingiverse, I decided to add my own twist to his travel chess set. It is ideal for on-the-go gameplay whether you're traveling by car, train, or plane. I've introduced some enhancements and included new bamboo print profiles. I hope you find it interesting!
Modifications I've Made:
Introduced a slider mechanism to ensure chess pieces can only point forward or backward, preventing them from rotating freely.
Updated the text on the lid for a more modern look.
Adjusted the size of the emblem on the latch for better proportion.
Simplified the game board design for a cleaner appearance.
Increased the size of the filament piece tube, eliminating the need to drill them post-printing.
Added an inspirational chess quote inside the lid for motivation.
Refined the latch connector design and added instructions for where to apply glue during assembly.
Added a colored frame on the latch.
Unified the design with a three-color scheme.
Assembly Tips:
Apply a minimal amount of glue when attaching the latch to the lid, aiming for an angle close to 90 degrees between the latch and lid top. An incorrect angle may prevent the lock from functioning properly or hinder the lid from closing. Here's a guide to the correct angle for assembly:
Use a 1.75mm filament piece for the hinges, cut slightly shorter than the tube's length, and centered within the tube.
The lid is designed for easy removal and can be used as a tray for holding captured pieces.
Pause and Play Feature:
To pause the game, simply place the inactive pieces in the opposite direction to the active ones. When you're ready to resume, remove the pieces positioned incorrectly and continue from where you left off.
Great you like it :) Yea I have experienced a bit with the brim-object gap as there was one pin that got knocked over at one point. Increasing that distance will make it easier to remove, but at a greater rist obviously. Would love to see the result to if possible? :D
