Ford / Mercury / Lincoln Battery Hold Down
Print Profile(1)

Description
Battery holder designed to be made from ABS. My non-OEM Dorman hold down broke which led me to discover that there essentially is only one option for some vehicles being the Dorman 00588 part. Unfortunately, it also generally sells for $15 at parts stores, so I decided to design my own. I have this part in my 1995 Ford truck; however, this part seems to be fairly universal (at least with Fords) and I've seen compatibility from 1987 all of the way to 2020 in trucks and suvs.
ABS is the plastic I recommend since the part will be inside the engine bay; ABS has been conventionally used on engines for several decades. Printing in ABS is a bit of a pain, and this part definitely will warp due to the sharp corners. I set the printing speeds to be 25% of the default as well as using a brim; if you still have warping issues you could also try printing on silent mode. I also recommend having a printer with an enclosure and then insulating at least the glass panels of the enclosure with blankets or jackets. I additionally used glue sticks as well as kept all of the fans off including the filter fan.
If you want to skip the headache of ABS, I have them listed on eBay for $5, which is less expensive than any of the competing parts that I have seen. I print them in batches of 14 at a time which helps prevent warping as well, however that wouldn't really help you since you likely only need one lol. If you buy them from me, not only are you supporting my work, but you also get cool embedded text on the back saying Made in USA.
Since I am selling them myself, this item is NOT COMMERICALLY AVAILABLE FOR RESALE.
If you want to support my work, you can buy me a beer. Any support is greatly appreciated!
