Hello everyone again!!!

In my previous robust toolbox models, I received requests from different colleagues with various measurement needs. And although I have tried to create several sizes, it is impossible to create all possible sizes, which is why, on this occasion, I have decided to create a parametric robust box so that everyone can customize it to their liking.

You can customize the height, width, length, the thickness of the side ribs, and the dimensions of the pins, both length and diameter.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

AS THIS IS A PARAMETRIC MODEL, I AM NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR POSSIBLE ERRORS IN THE AUTOMATIC CALCULATIONS. ALWAYS REVIEW THE RESULTING MODEL AND THE SLICER'S OUTPUT AND VERIFY THAT THE MODEL IS CORRECT AND COMPLETE. ALWAYS CHECK THE HINGE HOLES AND FRONT LATCHES AND ENSURE THE LATCHES HAVE THE CORRECT SHAPE

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The internal dimensions of the box (the base without the lid) are:

  • width = ‘width’ parameter - 4 mm
  • length = ‘length’ parameter - 4 mm
  • height = ‘height’ parameter + 3 mm

The external dimensions of the box (without the lid) are:

  • width = ‘width’ parameter + 10 mm
  • length = ‘length’ parameter + 25 mm approximately (varies slightly depending on the pin diameter)
  • height = ‘height’ parameter + 5 mm

The lid dimensions for width and length are calculated the same as the base, while the height is fixed and corresponds to 18 mm internally and 20 mm externally.

The pin dimensions should range from 2mm to 5mm. If you set different dimensions, the resulting model may have weak points in the hinges or latches. I recommend using the exact pin measurements, as tolerances are calculated automatically. If they are too tight, you can always ream out the holes with a drill bit of the pin's size.

Location of the 6 pins

The box closes very tightly, preventing dirt from entering from outside. Additionally, it has a small lip that allows the box and lid to fit together perfectly. The latches are very snug for a strong closure.

You can also adjust the thickness of the side ribs to give the model greater rigidity. I usually use about 7 mm, but if your dimensions result in a very large box, you can make them wider.

To print it, once downloaded, in the slicer you must split the model into its constituent objects. You can see this in the screenshot below:

Finally, a piece of advice. If you make a very large and tall box, it is possible that with 'bed slinger' printers, as the box gains height, it may shift, leading to snags, skipped steps, or other printing failures. Therefore, if you require a large volume box, I recommend using a 'core xy' printer.

And that's pretty much all I can say about the model.

I hope you like it and find it useful.

P.S. If you print it, I encourage you to comment on your impressions regarding the model, upload photos of the result, and help me with a boost to continue creating more models.

If you liked the model and found it useful, I would appreciate it if you rated the model, gave it a "like", uploaded a photo of the result, or gave me a boost (and if you do everything, it would be incredible). This encourages me to keep creating more models and helps models gain visibility. Thank you very much!!😉
