Description

I like the TUSH (https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2047554) but it's a bit fiddly and requires care placing spools on it. I'm lazy, so I developed this tabletop spool holder. Just drop your spools on it and go. This design has quite a large distance between the rollers so that spools sit 'within' them, rather than 'on' them. This should minimise empty spools from being pulled off the spool holder.

This needs 4 x 608 bearings and..........that's it.
Print a base and two rollers. Slide the bearings into the rollers and place the rollers into the base. Don't print the base out of a brittle plastic. It needs to flex a little bit to get the rollers in. Most plastics should be fine.

Took around 4 hours to print on my i3 plus with a 0.6mm nozzle.

Update: Added a universal one. It stands a bit taller, but will work for standard sized (200mm diameter) 1kg spools, and the 2-3kg spools. This will be ideal for people who mix and match spools, or have really light spools that tend to fall off as they empty (the rollers are spaced quite far apart, so the spools will tend to "sit down" between them, rather than on them).

Update 14/07/23 - Added a couple of supports that allow the stand to sit on a load cell.

Print instructions

Use supports on the base. There will be just 4 tiny support posts to support the bearing holders.
