Description

The AMS Lid Riser XL is big brother to the popular AMS Lid Riser and allows you to keep your AMS lid closed while using larger filament spools within the Bambu Lab AMS. The AMS Lid Riser XL provides an additional 10 degrees of clearance over the standard closed position of the AMS lid.

Instructions:

  • Print both sides of the AMS Lid Riser XL along with the tongues for each side.
  • Insert the tongues into the bottom of each side. While glue is not required I did apply CA glue to the tongues before assembly. Please make sure you're applying glue to the correct side as it only fits in one way.
  • Wait for the glue to dry before installing the AMS Lid Riser XL.
  • To install the AMS Lid Riser XL open the AMS lid, insert one riser piece at a time and firmly press the tongue into the rubber gasket, and close the AMS lid as pictured.

Notes:

  • Do not enable Flow Dynamics Calibration when printing or the part may overlap the lines.
  • It is not recommend to re-orient the position of the parts on the build plate unless you're an advanced user. They're positioned in this fashion to avoid warping that can be caused by close proximity to the fan.
  • Shown as printed in Bambu PLA Basic.

Thank you for the feedback! What is the diameter of the larger spools you're using?

Thank you for sharing your make and rating! The design attempts to cover the air gaps however I cannot claim that it will be air-tight.

Where would one get those TPU seals files?

This is exactly what I needed. My only problem is that I have large hands and my X1 sits on a tall table, so i can't see to feed new filament I'm and I barely have room to get my fingers in between the rolls and the riser to push the release button. But those aren't issues with the design. I just need a step stool. The also look awesome!!

You don't happen to have a single piece stl, do you? I have a 420x420 printer that could make one and it wouldn't have to be a left and right part which sometimes moves around when I open the door.

I don't have a single model since they were created as separate pieces however you can position them next to each other in the slicer and they should print at one part. With that said they shouldn't move even with two pieces. Looking closer at your photos it looks like the risers aren't pressed all the way down into the gasket. Try applying a bit more pressure to get them down in there. The gasket can feel stiff at first but the tongues should go down inside and the riser should sit firmly in place. I hope this helps!

Hi there, I used your riser design to make a connector from my AMS to a dehumidifier and shared a picture as my AMS moisture solution in one of the Facebook groups, as it is a remix of your work I want to share it on here giving you full credit for your original design, and it does say the licence allows remixes, but when I tried to add the 3MF and link to your design, it says that remixes are not allowed? Is that correct, is there any way I can share the design and give you the proper credit for the original file? can i post it but link to you?

Hi and thanks for sharing! The license actually doesn't allow for remixes and I need to keep my licenses strict because of other work I do. Personally I don't mind if you share this in a FB group if source credit is given. Legally though I still cannot give permission for derivatives of any of my models.

Apologies, I misread the standard licence text. i won't share it, I'll make a new one as it's unfair to share it sorry.
