Description

I lost the parts to my KidCo fireplace baby gate and made my own. These wall plate is designed to be screwed into the wall to securely attach the baby gate. The PivotPin is designed to slot into the two gate pieces to allow them to rotate with pressure greater than that of a toddler while still holding the gate pieces together.

Note on assembly: It's best to position the gate where you want it and then insert the PivotPin. It will allow it to pivot with enough force but the more you try to bend the gate with the PivotPin in then the more wear it will accumulate. In my experience, it applies more resistance to bending the gate then the default parts so it should resist a kid bending the gate by default.

Notes on Print Settings:

  • Supports are not needed for the PivotPin as the overhangs are so small.
  • Supports ARE needed for the wall plate
  • I used 3 walls for more strength
  • .2 Layer height but I've also used .3.
  • I used PLA and it worked great. On occasion they broke but then I printed new ones. PETG will certainly work as well.
  • Sturdier material is better. The plastic must hold up rotationally on the layer lines as to kids trying to move the gate will apply pressure in that way.
    • I had no issue with PLA and warping due to the fire but if you have an open fireplace and your gate gets warm it's possible. These gates are designed to be far enough back to keep kids safe though so PLA should be fine in theory
