Description

Deck Box for Magic The Gathering Commander Deck, with a commander in top-loader. Designed to be printed in three pieces: the box, and two pieces for the lid.

The pieces of the lid should be glued together using any kind of plastic safe adhesive. To do this best I've found you should first lightly sand down the surfaces of the pegs on the bottom lid part, and then apply glue to the four peg holes as well as the thin channels on the top piece of the lid. Apply pressure with weight (I use filament boxes) for a period of time to ensure a snug fit.

Once assembled, the top-loader holding your commander should be able to slide right in, giving you a view of your commander once in the box, so you don't lose track of which box is for what deck.

You'll need 10 3x8 mm magnets (I'll add a link at the bottom for the ones I buy off amazon). 5 go in the lid, and 5 go in the box for the holes of that size. Place them accordingly so that the lid will stay in place when in the slot. Some glue may be required, but magnets should be a press fit.

The lid is meant to simply slide into the slot in the box once the top-loader is placed in, so that the lid needs some force to pull out, and your commander stays nice and neat in the lid. The box itself can fit 100 single or double sleeved cards, with some room for tokens.

This is what I use for my personal collection of decks and for the 6 months I've used them, they've served me perfectly well.

The print profiles I've attached are for very generic catch all settings for Bambu Basic PLA, you probably will have to edit settings slightly for your preferences and filament. I opt to not use a brim on the box to leave a cleaner edge, so there will be a slight amount of curling on the corners if you use my settings. Happy printing, and let me know if you have any comments/concerns.

Printed great, but the design could use some minor tweaks. I would like to see the wall thickness reduced slightly as the filament usage is very high, and the box is pretty thick and bulky. I would also recommend some internal chamfers to let cards slide out easier.

Glad it printed well! I've been tinkering with slimming down the design for that main reason of filament usage and space. The toploader being kept inside the lid is the cause for most of the thickness, but I'm trying out slimming down the edges of the lid so that I can then slim down the sides of the box. I may try some smaller magnets to slim down the top, but want to ensure the lid stays in firmly. Will for sure add some chamfers to the internal openings, that's a great idea. Waiting on getting my X1C to replace the P1S I sold to a friend, but once I'm back in the saddle I'll start testing these practically and I'll come back to this comment to let you know when a new one goes live

Sounds great :) it's a very sturdy box so certainly no complaints there. I just finished the final glue-up and magnet installation today and then I'll be giving this to my magic-addicted friend. One small observation (and this certainly could be just my printer, or the cheapo amazon magnets I bought), the magnet fit was pretty loose, they definitely wouldn't have stayed in without glue, but I was planning on gluing them anyways, so it's no big deal.
