Modular Filament Storage

 

This model has been designed to provide a lightweight stackable storage solution that hides the filament, providing a tidier look in your printer space. 
This model fits all the 1kg filament roll widths/diameters I could find. The model has been broken down into parts as this reduces the risk of warping and provides more options for customisation.

 

The model is broken down into five main parts:

  • Base
  • Legs
  • Walls
  • Door
  • Top/Lid

For a super light weight build, just the base and legs can be used. The walls are doors are completely optional, which means the model can be printed to suit your needs, as shown in the main picture.

The legs are fully symmetrical, which means they do not need to be placed in specific corners and the door can be mounted either left or right opening (see pictures).

The door features a detachable tag, allowing you to identify each filament quickly. The tag can also be replaced if the filament in that unit is swapped out for a different one.

 

Assembly:

Without walls or door:

  • Simply place the legs on the base with the chamfered edge facing out.

With walls and door:

  • Place two legs on the base, these will be the front two legs. 
  • Push the door catch mechanism into the preferred side. 
  • Assemble doors as per the assembly pictures in the guide area. 
  • Push the door hinge into the preferred side. 
  • Assemble the walls into the other two legs. 
  • Push the walls into the two legs mounted on the base.
  • Finally, push down on all 4 legs to ensure they are correctly seated on the base.
