The pedestal angles the Google Home/Nest Mini (gen1 and gen2). In certain cases this improves on the sound of the speaker while also improving the microphone reception.

The connector is routed inside the base and connects with the Mini inside the base.

Because the Google Home Mini’s controls are reversed, remember to enable “Reverse Device Controls” option in the Google Home App > (select your mini) > (select the gear on the upper right corner) > device settings.

I have remade the inside of the column to allow the new Google Nest Mini Gen 2 to fit inside, as it uses a round power plug instead of USB. It should therefore work with all generations of Google Minis.
