Description
This EDF alignment jig was used by me directly in practice to precisely align a 90 mm EDF impeller.
Specifically, it was used during the construction of a Royal Air Force Hawk T1.
The goal was the clean alignment of the thrust axis with the fuselage, to:
- avoid power loss
- reduce vibrations
- ensure straight, efficient thrust
The holder allows the EDF to be positioned stress-free outside the model, to precisely control the centerline, and then precisely mount it.
Especially with narrow fuselages like the Hawk T1, this is a clear advantage over "fitting by feel".
The design is:
- stable
- workbench-compatible
- repeatable
- ideal for 90 mm EDF setups
I use this device myself in RC jet model building and have developed and tested it not theoretically, but in a practical way.
