Description

Quick Fun, Anywhere!

Have you ever been out with the kids, just dying for some fun? Dentist waiting room, restaurant, long car ride?

Well here's an idea! Say hello to Emergency Connect4. Consisting of 5 cards the size of a credit card, you have a ready to assemble game of Connect4.

This print file contains 3 different cards/sprues.

  • Sprue A
    • This contains one half of the main game board and one of the side supports. You'll need (2) of this card.
  • Sprue B
    • This contains the base for the gameboard and also the legs for the game to stand on. You'll need (1) of this card.
  • Sprue C
    • This contains 20 chips to be used for the game. You'll need (2) of this card, each in a different color.

Assembly Instructions:

  • NOTE: I recommend pushing the pieces out of the sprue from the back side (less likely to damage the bottom edge), or using side cutters for reduced cleanup.
  1. Once all pieces are removed from the sprue, insert the side supports (2) for the main game board into the base (3).
  2. Insert the main game board (1) into the base (3). (I found this can be a tad easier if I put the pieces together to form the entire board, then push them into the base together.)
  3. Press the legs (4) onto the base (3).
  4. Pop out the chips (5).
  5. Play!

Disclaimer

I've attempted to thoroughly test the clearances and the sprue attachment points, I've successfully printed this several times in it's current iteration (while it's only my 3rd major revision, I've gone through about 11 iterations to this point). I've found a balance of easy removal from the sprue and ease of assembly that I'm really happy with. If you find any issues, please let me know so I can address them! For reference, I primarily use PLA Matte materials, so YMMV with others.

This printed really well, haven't assembled yet. A case or frame to slide these into would be really handy. I used a dab of superglue gel to connect the red and blue pieces together and a little dap of glue on the for corners to hold all the plates together until it is needed.

Great idea, printed it and my only tiny complaint would be that the writing is lacking bit detail, but that won´t stop the fun in an "emergency" situation!

Thanks for the feedback. I definitely prioritized speed over detail on this one. Typically, when I use this font this small, I’ll turn on ironing and Arachne wall mode for a really polished look. Usually I’ll make the text 2 layers tall instead of one, as well. If you have Bambu Slicer you could try changing the first two settings I mentioned, but I’ll also look at making a cleaner profile tomorrow for those that want it.

To clarify, I’ve got a picture of my print zoomed in. Are you referring to the gaps/“holes” in the lettering, the roundness of the corners, or something else?

Replying to @pendzich.cody :
Yes, exactly. But I totally get your point of prioritizing speed over getting every last bit of detail. Especially as it is not something for really long-time use, it’s for an emergency or maybe for travel.

I couldn’t get the pieces to fit very well in the connect four. I do like it a lot and the design is cool

Oh man, the fact that this is an "emergency" connect 4 just makes it all the better. I got a good chuckle and this looks like a really fun item. Cheers and good luck!

Thanks so much for the kind words! This one started out as just a quick and easy model and turned into so much more of a fun project. I loved making this one.
