Description

News 2024-04-04:

Upon request, I designed an XL version of this scraper with 30% longer blades:

News 2024-03-10:

Please also check out my new Blade Dispenser for this Bed Scraper:

Model Description:

Since the cutting edges of plastic bed scrapers wear quickly, I was not happy with the existing designs. They simply required too much filament to print.

That's why I developed this optimized bed scraper that holds replaceable blades. Each blade weighs just 1.2 grams - and since each blade has two cutting edges, only 0.6 grams of filament is required per cutting edge. It couldn't be more economical, and you can now replace the blades more often without feeling guilty.

I recommend my print profiles for this design:

  1. As kit card
Since this is a design for the Kit Card Design Contest, I created a Kit Card print profile.
  2. As individual parts
If you want to use the bed scraper right away, choose this print profile.
  3. 32 blades
With this print profile, 32 blades can be printed at once. If you want to print fewer blades, simply delete the unnecessary ones from the print bed in the print profile.

Print Settings:

This design has been optimized for printing with a layer height of 0.2 mm, so please do not use a different value. The first layer should have a line width of at least 0.5 mm. In order to get the sharpest possible blade, you should choose a smooth printing surface if possible.

Assembly:

That is very easy. Simply slide the blade into the handle. But be careful - the blades are sharp, so don't push them in with your finger, but insert them loosely and then push them all the way by pressing the blade on a solid surface.

So nice I printed it twice, peeled a small prime tower up while still hot on the textured bed. So I made a small holder to keep 15 blades plus the scraper next to each printer. I used to use printable blades for the bambu scraper but these require no tools, just pull and flip/replace the blade.

The modular idea is great, but in practice, this do not work (at least printed PLA). It will chip after first usage. I will try to print blade in different materials (PETG and ASA).

the print profiles keep defaulting to A1 when printing from Bambu App/phone. I had to print from laptop which finally resolved the issue.

I printed them in PLA-CF and they’re taking a long time to wear out.
