Dead Ice

Dead Ice is a symbolic sculptural piece reflecting the present moment—a time defined by accelerating climate instability, environmental loss, and the quiet normalization of collapse.

A fractured human skull is trapped inside a melting ice cube, fully visible yet immobilized. The cube retains its familiar form, but it is clearly failing: edges sag, gravity pulls the ice downward, and deep fractures spread through both ice and bone. What once preserved now destroys.

The skull’s broken structure represents fragility beneath systems meant to protect—while the melting ice references rising global temperatures, disappearing glaciers, and the steady erosion of long-term stability. There is no puddle, no aftermath—only the moment where preservation and decay coexist.

Rendered in a minimalist, album-art style, Dead Ice avoids realism in favor of bold, exaggerated forms that translate cleanly into physical space. The piece is intentionally stark, allowing viewers to project their own interpretation—whether environmental, societal, or personal.
