Meet Benny, the adorable little bear with a heart as light as a feather and dreams as high as the sky. Benny always found himself captivated by the wonders of flight, his tiny eyes sparkling with excitement whenever he saw birds soaring through the air. But Benny's dream was something more magical – he yearned to take flight himself, drifting among the clouds on a whimsical adventure.
My daughters always used to ask me why Benny was so lonely. Not anymore. Meet Binny.

Print Settings
1. Tolerance Test for Connectors:
- Begin by printing the "Tolerance test for connectors.3mf" to adjust your printer’s tolerance for the connectors. Focus on adjusting the connectors, not the cylinders, which are designed with a 0.2mm spacing. Tailor this setting to your printer for a snug fit.
2. Connectors:
- You’ll need 2 large and 4 small connectors for assembly. Print these immediately after your tolerance adjustments to ensure compatibility, or adjust directly in the "Arms and connectors.3mf" file if needed.
3. Base:
- Opt for a 15-30% infill when printing the base. This increases the weight and stability of the assembled figure, helping Benny stay upright during his whimsical adventures.
4. Legs:
- There are no specific requirements for printing the legs; standard settings will suffice.
5. Body:
- Look for a small dot at the placement area for the left arm (and a corresponding dot on the arm). This feature is designed to help you distinguish which arm is left.
6. Head:
- If your printer supports multicolor printing, use the "head multicolor.3mf" file , but better alternative (less waste of filament) is to paint the face details manually to bring Benny's expressive face to life.
7. Arms:
- The left arm is marked with a dot to ensure correct orientation during assembly.
8. Balloon:
- The balloon is the most challenging part to print. Aim for slow speed, 1 or 2 perimeters and 0% infil (to make balloon as light as you can), and at least a 5mm brim, try to print without support for a smoother finish. But if necessary, use user defined organic supports provided in the .3mf file.
Assembly Guide for 3D-Printed Benny:
Step 1: Prepare Connectors
- Begin by attaching the connectors to Benny's body. Use the larger connectors for the head and legs, and the smaller ones for the arms.
Step 2: Attach Head and Legs
- Once all connectors are in place, proceed to attach Benny's head and legs to the body.
Step 3: Assemble Arms
- Identify the left arm by the marked dot. Attach the left arm to its corresponding spot on the body
Step 4: Base Connection
- Attach the connectors to the base, preparing it to support the figure. Then, place Benny onto the base, securing him in place.
Step 5: Attach the Balloon
- Cut a length of filament, approximately 35mm, to use as the "rope" for attaching the balloon to Benny's shirt. This step brings the entire piece together, completing the whimsical look of Benny ready for flight.
-
- Be Gentle: When attaching parts, especially the balloon, be gentle to prevent any breakage.
- Customize: Feel free to add personal touches, such as painting the figure or adding additional decorations to make your Benny unique.
Have fun and enjoy!
