Flexi Starfish Case

Description
This is an elegant case for the brilliant Ocean Motion: Flexi Starfish! model. You can use it as a gift or to safely store your starfish.
I wanted a sleek and minimal case, and I managed to hide the hinges so they don’t protrude at the back. In the front there are small notches showing where to open it and giving you a better grip. The hinge doesn’t need any extra hardware; at 45° there is a small groove that makes it easier to assemble by snapping the parts together. Inside, the starfish lies on an inlay of TPU Air (it could be another material; that’s just what I chose for a slightly softer fit), as well as a matching inlay in the lid that fits over the starfish. This way you can flip the case and the starfish inside stays secured.
Filament I used for my Case:
- Bambu Lab PLA Black
- PLA Silk Dual-Color Filament Blue&Green
- Siraya Tech Flex TPU Air (260° → 72A)
The TPU Air was sticking very firmly to the Textured Build Plate. I used a plastic spatula, and a bit of water with detergent seemed to help to get it off the build plate. The inlay for the lid takes a bit of post-processing: since Siraya Tech recommends not using retraction, there are strings whenever the nozzle travels to another part of the model. I removed them with a small wire cutter.
I was not allowed to upload the Siraya Tech filament settings to MakerWorld, so I selected TPU 90A. If you choose to use Siraya Tech Flex TPU Air, you can download their filament settings from here. I wasn’t able to save them directly, so I took screenshots and created a new filament profile in another project.
