Description

Create your own custom tiered shelf to fit anything you want! These print easily without requiring any support. Assembly is a snap!

You can create your own shelves to your exact dimensions via the attached Fusion 360 file, or you can use any of the example sizes I've included.  With 4 base sizes, 5 tier heights, and up to 9 shelf widths there are nearly 200 sample configurations to choose from. And if you download the Fusion 360 file and customize it using the user parameters, the possibilities are limitless!

Using the Example STLs

If you'd prefer to download STLs directly, there are several size options to choose from. If none of these sizes fit your needs, then feel free to download the f3d file and customize to your liking instead.

Choose a base size

25mm

This size is perfect for several brands of hobby paint. It should work well with Reaper, Vallejo, and Army Painter bottles.

28mm

28mm fits some common nail polish brand bottles. I've tested Holo Taco and ILNP.

34mm

This size works well for some brands of 2oz acrylic craft paint, I've only personally tested craft smart. It also fits the 2oz mod podge bottles. In this size, the shelves rise further than their height so there is a vertical gap between each tier.

46mm

This is a great size for a spice rack. This was designed to fit regular sized McCormick spice bottles.  In this size, the shelves rise further than their height so there is a vertical gap between each tier.

Picking panels and shelves

Once you've chosen your base size, you'll need to determine how many items you want to fit on each shelf, as well as how many shelves you want. For example: Say I'm putting together an organizer for 36mm acrylic paint bottles. if I want my organizer to be 3x high and 8x wide in order to fit 24 total paint bottles then I would need to download:

  • 36mm_panels / 3x_left.stl
  • 36mm_panels / 3x_right.stl
  • 36mm_shelves / 8x.stl

I would print one of each panel, and three copies of the shelf. That's it!

Available Parameters

ItemsPerShelf

Number of items that should fit on each shelf. Is used to determine overall shelf width.

ItemTolerance

Extra spacing between items on shelf. Add extra tolerance based on your printer settings or if you're unable to get precise measurements of the items you're using.

ItemWidth

The width of each item you're storing. Items are assumed to have the same width and length (either square or circular bases).

PrintTolerance

Fit spacing between printed objects. Set based on your printer's tuning. 0.3mm works well for my printer.

RiseHeight

Vertical spacing between each tier, leave as x_ComputedShelfHeight to maintain gapless tier spacing.

ShelfCornerRadius

Radius of the shelf corners. Generally keep this ≤5mm to avoid issues with geometry.

ShelfCount

The number of shelves/tiers. Requires a minimum of 2.

ShelfHeight

Exterior height of each shelf/tier. Internal height is affected by ShelfWallThickness, constrained to >=5mm

ShelfWallThickness

Thickness of the shelf walls, adjust to suit your needs. Larger sizes will require thicker walls to maintain strength.

SidePanelWallThickness

Thickness of the side panels, adjust to suit your needs. Larger sizes may require thicker walls to maintain strength.
