Description

Candy cane halves spiral around each other.

Print the model twice. The two half should slide together as you twist. Once together, hold it in one hand. Push together the top of one piece and the bottom of the other piece. This should slide the pieces in opposite directions. Then push on the opposite ends to reverse. You can slide them about half way without them falling apart.

If you would like to use these as decorations, glue the two halves together.

Print Settings

Standard settings will work, but I used the following:

0% infill
3 perimeters
5 top layers
Wide brim (8-10mm)

As with any tall model, it can get a bit wobbly near the top. Removing the infill allows for smooth, even movements to minimize the wobble. Also, be sure to cleanly remove the brim to avoid any extra friction during use.

At first, they may be a little tight. However, they loosen up some as you play more with it. As they slide back and forth, they are rubbing away any imperfections to make smooth mating surfaces. The original model has a 0.2mm clearance between the pieces. I have included a higher clearance (0.3mm) version for anyone who is getting a very tight fit. The original model will work for almost everyone.

Very Cool -- mine are a little tight, but used 2 different manufactures and 1 silk, 1 standard filaments is probably the reason. Nothing a little use won't fix. Thanks for sharing!

The print is very easy. I think I don’t need the extra clearance but that may be the reason it twirls nicely into one another. I would print a smaller clearance next time, but this is still great. I am maxed at 3 stars due to a failed attempt but I can’t remember the issue.

Thanks for the nice design. Make shure to use a LARGER brim and/or stick glue to prevent wobbling or even loosing the print.
