Spinecleaver – Winged Articulated Dragon

Spinecleaver is a fully articulated dragon designed with a unique alternating segment and scale system.
The body elements and scales are offset from each other, allowing smoother movement while reducing interference between segments during articulation.

This design results in fluid motion, improved flexibility, and a satisfying poseability along the entire body and tail.
The dragon features sharp, spine-like details, a dynamic silhouette, and a balanced structure that prints reliably without supports.

Perfect as a display piece, fidget model, or collectible dragon for fantasy enthusiasts.

By the way, the idea for this dragon’s name comes from @AbyssalCactus – please check out his profile on MakerWorld, he creates really great models

Important printing note:

  • This model takes a relatively long time to print and can produce a considerable amount of failed-print waste on some printers if the first layer doesn’t adhere perfectly. To avoid this, make sure your build plate is spotless and ideally use an additional adhesion aid such as 3D-Lac or hairspray - better safe than sorry!

  • This print profile was created for printing with the H2D/H2C from BambuLab. Print times may vary significantly when using other printers!

Model is great. Prints easily and looks amazing however the balljoint for the wings is so tight that it adhered to the rest of the fragon making it impossible to move and the wings broke off. Is it possible to make one with a bit higher tolerance?

I'm sorry to hear that, there shouldn't really be any issues as long as the filament was properly calibrated beforehand. I'll still create a version with tighter tolerances on the ball joints – thanks for the input!

Very long print but part of that was me. We used four colors, all pla silk so there were a ton of color changes. Lots of poop, even with a purge object. However, very nice print.

This dragon came out sick! My son is too rough and breaks things too easy so i made the dragon from TPU for ams Bambu blue and Bambu black. Hoping it holds up! The wings articulate well and it's got great detail in the face and scales. Best dragon hands down in my opinion. Gonna give you a boost for this for sure. Thank you.

Printed flawlessly. I first printed one in just one color and then did a second in 4-color. The four color one is sooo cool. I was planning on selling it at one of my shows but this one is a keeper. The only downside was that it took 25 hours to print on my P1S. I just got an H2D so I’ll give it a try on that printer and see how long it takes. Again, great design!

I had printed a dragon egg with a little dragon in it a while back for my 12 year old grandson. When he saw this model he wanted it in the same filament to show its “grown up” look. Came out great. Keep up the great work. I always love printing your models!
