Description
Since I wasn’t fully satisfied with most spool holders available for the P2S, I decided to design my own solution.
For this project, I combined and adapted what I consider the best features of existing spool holders, resulting in a new, very smooth-running spool holder that works especially well with TPU and other externally fed materials.
For mounting the spool holder, the adapter plate by Bella is required (P2S Spulenarm Befetigungs Halter).
About the design
To allow the printer to be placed close to a wall, I started from the concept of the angled arm by macko_usko25 (Versetzter Spulenhalter für P2S). However, I wasn’t satisfied with the original holder, as I wanted a ball-bearing-supported design.
Therefore, I adapted an existing bearing solution (AMS2Pro seitlicher Spulenhalter) and combined it with the angled arm.
In addition, the collar and plug-in connection by Lin (P2S Spulenhalter) were reused and slightly modified.
For filament guidance, I designed a swinging PTFE tube mount, which is mounted using an M3×20 hex socket screw.. This uses a 6 mm to 4 mm adapter fitting (which I already had available, see Figures). Alternatively, PC4-M6 or PC4-M10 fittings can be used (corresponding STP files for customization are included).
The spool roller uses 6801 ball bearings.

Updates:
2026-01-21:
STEP file added for the filament feeder, compatible with PC4-M10 and PC4-M6 fittings.
Depending on the fitting used, the feeder can be swapped accordingly.
(Not tested by me – changes to the STEP files may still be required.)
2026-01-26:
Additional STEP files added, required to mount 3 kg spools.
⚠️ Warning: These parts were created only upon request from a comment and have not been tested by me. I cannot guarantee that they will safely withstand the load of 3 kg spools.
If anyone tests this version, please let me know – I personally do not use 3 kg spools.
2026-02-11:
The roller length has been reduced by 1 mm for both the standard version and the 3 kg version. By shortening the roller, additional space is created between the roller and the bearing seat.
This change was made based on feedback and requests in the comments.
The updated STEP replacement files are stored in the folder: “Replacements for additional space”
They are intended as direct replacements and can be used with the existing spool holder without any further modifications.
⚠️ Please note: As of now, the 3 kg spool holder version has not yet been tested, and no user feedback is available so far.
