Description

ALPAGUT Smart Loitering Munition System

[NEW] Improvement Update – March 2026

Based on community feedback, I have implemented several improvements to ensure a more refined assembly process and better structural durability:

  • Improved Tolerances: Increased global offsets for dovetail connectors to prevent interference fits that lead to part breakage.
  • Enhanced Structural Integrity: Revised geometry and updated print profiles to handle assembly stresses.
  • New Assembly Guide: Added a dedicated Wing Pivot Section Assembly Guide (PDF/Image) to clarify the sequence for the wing folding mechanism.

Assembly Guide (Please See the documentation section)
  • Custom Tolerance Files: Uploaded "blank" wing files (without pre-cut dovetails) for users who prefer to perform their own Boolean cuts in the slicer for a custom fit.

This is a detailed display model of the ALPAGUT, a smart loitering munition system designed for precision engagement. A joint development by Turkish defense companies STM and ROKETSAN.

The ALPAGUT is known for its versatility in day and night operations and its ability to be deployed from land, sea, and air platforms, most notably successfully tested on the Bayraktar AKINCI UCAV.

This print is designed for aviation enthusiasts, military model collectors, and those interested in modern unmanned systems.

Background Information

The ALPAGUT is a "Smart Loitering Munition System" engineered to engage mobile or stationary targets, including radar systems, communication centers, critical facilities, and light armored vehicles.

Key Capabilities:

  • Operational Flexibility: The system can operate day or night and is effective against both land and sea targets. It features a "fire and forget" capability, allowing for autonomous operation or user-controlled engagement.
  • Loitering & Detection: Once launched, the ALPAGUT enters a detection-and-tracking mode, "loitering" in the air. Its onboard TV/IIR seeker delivers real-time video to the operator, enabling precise target identification.
  • Swarm Technology: Designed for use in single or swarm configurations to overwhelm air defense systems.
  • Stealth & Guidance: The dual-mode seeker allows it to detect targets without being noticed, and it is hardened against jamming systems.
  • Platform Integration: One of its most distinctive features is its rapid integration with a wide range of manned and unmanned vehicles, including the AKINCI, TB-3, and ANKA UAVs.

Model Features:

  • Movable Wings: The wings are articulated, allowing you to display the model in deployed "flight" mode or folded configuration.
  • Rotatable Propellers: The propellers are designed to rotate for posing.
  • Please Note: As this is a display model, the mechanism is not intended for rapid spinning or functional play; tolerances are optimized for visual accuracy rather than mechanical smoothness.

Assembly Guide

  • (NEW) Dedicated Wing Pivot Guide: Please refer to the uploaded "Wing Pivot Section Assembly Guide (PDF)" for detailed, step-by-step instructions on the articulated wing mechanism. It is highly recommended to review this document before beginning the assembly of the fuselage and wings.

  • Connectors: I recommend using CA glue (super glue) or a permanent adhesive to secure all standard connectors.
  • Moving Parts: Do not glue the Main Wing Pin. Simply slot it into place to allow the wings to fold and rotate.
  • Tolerances: Due to variations in printer calibration (hole compensation), the wing pin fit may vary. If the movement is too loose, I recommend adding a small piece of tape around the pin to increase friction and help the wing hold its position.
  • Please assemble the model based on the drawings below:
