Designed for fractures or dislocations in the middle segments and tips of fingers, or for supporting recovery after finger surgery. When extending the splint using the slicer (scaling it longitudinally) to reach the palm, it can also be effective for the base segments of the fingers. The splint is crafted to avoid exerting pressure on the neurovascular bundles along the sides of the fingers. For enhanced patient comfort, bandages or synthetic cotton wool undercast padding can be placed beneath the splint. Securing the splint is typically done with a patch or multiple strips of kinesio tape to ensure breathability. Two bends are essential to create a neutral shape for the splint, maintaining the natural finger flexion.
