Description
This layered sculpture transforms two-dimensional planes into breathing, deep spaces through its staggered, three-dimensional structure. Each wafer-thin slice shifts incrementally with 0.1 mm precision, and as the viewing angle changes, the negative space hidden within the gaps suddenly emerges—as if time itself were sliced into tangible slivers, flowing through one's fingertips. The material itself retains its original warm, moist texture, yet when light and shadow pass over it, it is re-tempered into a stark luster: the same ray of light is refracted, interrupted, and reflected again at different heights, like a silent chorus. Those seemingly random fissures are actually traces conspired by data algorithms and manual errors, reminding the viewer that precision and serendipity are two sides of the same coin. As one's gaze slowly moves along the tangent, the microscopic topography of the artwork's surface gradually magnifies into a macroscopic landscape—city skylines, folded mountains, or even the waveform of a heartbeat—in the constant tension between "stacking" and "carving", matter is imbued with narrative, and that narrative collapses back into a tangible entity
