25mm Silver Keychain (10pcs) - MA001

Description

What Am I Looking At?

A keychain for holding your lip balm that’s durable and easily accessible! I’ve had one clipped to my belt loop everyday for months now and it’s still going strong (and my lips have never felt so cared for).

- There’s a plate with pieces that will fit actual ChapStick tubes and similar sizes, and another for those with thicker labels and/or longer tubes.

Source Material:

The idea to split the lid into three parts to take advantage of the strength of layer lines was inspired by Node Dojo’s bolt generator, but that’s about it on this one!

Alternative Model Options!

I can design some other textures or lid styles if you’re interested, just let me know!

Why I Made This:

A friend of mine saw one of the Little Ouchies pain stims and asked me to make almost exactly the opposite, which we decided would basically be the same texture as a golf ball. I wanted a keychain setup that was sturdy and didn’t require one of those little beaded chain things, because I can’t seem to help but tear those off of whatever I find them on. 😅

Assembly Instructions:

The two lid inserts slide back to back through the hole in the lid, their combined base will slot into the hexagon on the bottom of the lid. Once they’re through, you’ll need to put something, either a keychain, paracord or something similar, through the holes in both inserts to keep them in place.

That step might be easier if you can put a chapstick in the tube and then screw on the lid with the inserts ready to go. The chapstick will help keep the little inserts from slipping all the way out of the lid as you run the keychain through the holes.

I used a keychain on mine and have a youtube short how-to that should help if you have troubles (not great quality, sorry! had very shaky hands that day. I will remake it at some point)

Notes:

- Some brands will fit in the smaller tube but leave so little room between the chapstick and the holder that there’s a sort of vacuum effect that will make it hard to get the chapstick out. There’s no harm in printing the bigger version besides a bit of clicking as the keychain moves around.

- I put a small dot on the top of the lid and bottom of the tube on the larger version so you can tell the sizes apart if you have printed versions of both of them.

Print Settings:

- I use Variable Layer Height and then lower that variable height to the minimum for the threads on the tube piece and for every layer on the lid pieces.

- Wall Generator - Arachne

- Sparse Infill Density - 40%

- Initial Layer Flow Ratio - 1.015

- Bottom Surface Pattern - I think it looks cool with Octagram Spiral, but you do you.
