This spool holder is designed for use with the filament dryer support for 3D printers (MK3S+), allowing for simultaneous printing while drying filament or accommodating large spools that won't fit inside the filament dryer.
To use it, simply place it on the designated support in the correct orientation. For printing the spool holder itself, it's recommended to use PLA or PLA+ as these materials make support removal easier.
I've provided two versions of the holder: S and L. The S version shares the same geometry and relative positions as the filament dryer, while the L version allows for the use of either very wide or relatively narrow spools.
Each spool holder requires a different rod length: the S version uses a 95mm long rod, and the L version uses a 114mm long rod.
Description | Reference Image | Qty | Filament
1 | dry_box_spool_holder_S_v1 (use PLA for easier support removal) | 1 | PLA
2 | axis_95mm (print it using brim and use 100% infill on both ends) | 2 | PETG
3 | drybox_spoolholder_L_v1 (use PLA for easier support removal) | 1 | PLA
4 | axis_114mm (print it using brim and use 100% infill on both ends) | 2 | PETG
5 | bearing_cover (same part used in DIY Dehumidifier for 3D Printer Filaments) | 4 | PETG
6 | Bearing 608zz | 4 | - | |
7 | Parker self tapping screw #4 D2,9 mm x L3/8" | 8 | - |
The system is very easy to assemble, but I'll detail it below:
Step 1. Insert the rod into the 2 bearings.
Step 2. Insert the above assembly into the bearing seats.
Step 3. Place the cover over the bearing and secure it using the Parker screws.
Step 4. Place the spoolholder on the diy filament dryer support.
This model will not be functional unless you have printed both of these:
