Holiday Infinity Card: A Customizable, Fidgetable Greeting Card

I originally designed an Infinity Card with my daughter as a birthday card for one of her friends.  It was such a hit (it has edged out dragons as the model I've had to print the most copies of…) that I decided to turn it into a public model.  That first version (https://makerworld.com/en/models/1573179) got a great reception, so I decided to create this Holiday Edition, with Christmas and Hanukkah designs.  All of the text is customizable in the slicer, so you can easily change the holiday greeting (e.g., change “Merry Christmas” to “Happy Holidays”) or personalize the message.  (See below for details.)

 

If you haven't seen an Infinity Card before, it's a 3D-printable flippable card: a flat card that you can flip and fold endlessly, revealing different faces as it cycles. It's part greeting card, part fidget toy.

 

Assembly is quick and easy--you basically just flip through the four “pages” of the card and snap each one to the back of the one before it. Please see the written assembly instructions in the “Assembly Guide” section of this page and/or the assembly video below.  (The card in the assembly video is available on the page for the non-holiday version of the model.)

Print Settings:

I recommend you use the uploaded print profiles.  If you don't, here are some suggestions:

  • I have found that the .16mm High Quality preset in Bambu Studio works well.
  • Either use the Arachne wall generator (in the “Quality” section of the settings) or turn on Detect thin wall (in the “Strength” section of the settings) to keep the slicer from dropping thin lines in images/text.
  • The dimensions and tolerances were set based on a .16mm layer height with .2mm for the first layer.  If you change the settings from the ones in the posted print profiles, I recommend you keep this layer height.  


Notes:

  • A few people have reported that the snaps came out a little loose for them.  (The tolerances seem to depend slightly on the filament calibration, printing plate, etc.)  If any of the snaps are loose, squeeze the snap with a pliers as shown in the image in the bottom right of the assembly instructions. This makes it slightly flatter and wider and permanently fastens it in the hole.
  • For each design, I have included a 160mm x 160mm (6.3"x6.3") version, which prints on two plates, a 100mm x 100mm (3.94"x3.94") version, which prints on one plate.  I have also included an A1 Mini profile that prints the 100mm x 100mm version on two plates.
