Description

This is my Rocinante model which is supposed to represent the Rocinante ship as it featured in the very last episode of the season 6 of the show Expanse. It has CSL plating, railgun, PDCs and torpedo tubes. The model is 50cm long and has several features.

- Retractable PDCs
- Posable landing legs
- Retractable Airlock cover
- Extendable Air-bridge.
- Attachable stand

Model is once again a kit so you do not need a glue (with one exception described in the assembly video).

Painstakingly printed in multiple colors on my MMU2S. A huge project for me but it was well worth it.

WOW!!! 🤩 That looks amazing, well done! May I ask if you had to do any painting post-print, or is all the color printed? I’m interested in trying to do a fully printed colorization, just with a different color scheme. Would you be open to sharing your files that I could use as a reference/starting point? I haven’t tried colorizing anything before, so anything you share would be incredibly helpful… if so, I’d not only (of course) attribute it to you, but would share the results back for you to do with as you please.

Hi Martin, Is it possible to provide the STEP file? It could be import it into Bambu Studio and colorize the model in assbembly view. I know there is a whole.stl file, but after spliting, it may generate some very small parts that I think can not be printed.

Got it! Is it possible to export full STLs from your CAD file? Full STLs means: 1. repeated files are included multiple times, for example, there are 4 "xxx_-_orion_pdc_frame_4x.stl" files 2. STLs keeps there relative spatial position, so I can drag all of them into Bambu Studio and consider them as "a single object with multiple parts" It would be much helpful to colorize the model when it is in an assembly view. "a single object with multiple parts" can implement this.

why cant you use the "whole" model? that is exactly what you describe.

Could you upload you file, This seems to be at least 4 colors. Only current option is 3 via Maker world.

it’s an effort printing all the parts. The final model is well worth it. such high detail, some small pieces neede reprint

Hey there. Looks great, I am working through the print myself. However, I am wondering how you printed out those leg bases on plate 5. Supports won't auto populate for me and I am kinda worried about this specific parts orientation printing in air.

Great model, good print profile. Only comments would be the supports are quite tricky to remove especially on the PDCs and the tolerances on the PDC parts fitting together were too tight, resulting in many breaks and reprints but these are all small part problems.

Toller Druck, hat etwas gedauert aber jetzt ist es geschafft. Für mich schon perfekt, es fehlen noch ein paar Kleinigkeiten aber ich bin zufrieden! Hat wirklich Spaß gemacht! Du kannst ruhig noch mehr von den einstellen! The Expanse ist einfach Klasse! Danke!♥️👍

Martin.taichl you have made one of the finest models of the Roci. 100 hours alot of filament and hours assembling and I have a model of one of my favorite ships. You have brought my love of making models back. Time to look for the next model in your collection cause you got the shows i love. thanks

Fantastic model to print and build. Great job designing this for the fans of the show. Had to reprint a few smaller part due to supports not working as expected but nothing major. Just need to give it a little paint eventually. Printed with polymaker pla pro metallic chrome and metallic black.
