ZigBee Low-Voltage Switch with Color Change
This design modifies a TRÅDFRI "hockey puck" remote control to function as an IHC Wireless FUGA® battery switch, but for ZigBee. The concept is to move the radio/CPU module to a smaller PCB, which can fit into a low-voltage switch
Advantages
- You can both turn on/off, dim up/down, and change colors. Color change does not work on Hue bulbs
A back box behind the switch is not necessary. Can be mounted anywhere indoors
Disadvantages
Must be disassembled for battery replacement and pairing
Improvement Possibilities
Protection against incorrect polarity. Either electronically or mechanically
- Update to latest ZigBee module
- Design own button that resembles a rocker switch. Building instructions
See building instructions in English
Electrical Safety
The low-voltage switch must not be mixed with 230V. The intention is for it to be mounted directly on the wall, or in a back box without 230V. If you wish to remove a 230V switch and install the low-voltage switch instead, you must seek help from a licensed electrician
