Description

My first ever kit-card design - chess pieces as a kit-card! Prints all flat - and then you (of the receiver of the gift) has to assemble the set. As this is my first attempt on kit-cards, please feel free to comment with suggestions for future improvements. And enjoy!

Overview

The kit contains all default chess pieces:

  • King
  • Queen
  • Bishop
  • Knight
  • Rook
  • Pawn

You can print them individually OR as bigger ‘sets’ in a single card!

Assembly

This should be fairly simple as all pieces only contains 3 elements:

  1. Snap/cut the elements free from the card
  2. Slide the 2 main elements together (one from the top, and the other from the bottom)
  3. Press the assembled piece down into the base (tip: do it while the base is flat on a table)

If the fit is too loose, maybe a little glue can help. If it’s too tight, maybe a little sanding..

Print instructions

Here is a few suggestions:

  • Speed: Low 1. layer speed (maybe below 50% of normal - just the first layer to ensure bed adhession with all the small lines)
  • Orientation: The cards should be oriented correctly
  • Brim: No. Would take a long time to clean the model..

Happy printing!

this is a cool model but it should not be in this contest. it is not more than just a toy relevant Kit Card Design Contest verbiage from makerworld... I value you feedback - thanks for commenting :-) I started thinking about kit-cards when I saw the 'upcoming contests' post from Bambu Lab - and at that time there were no descriptions available. So I made this as my first kit-card. I do see that it states in the contest description that kit-cards can be so much more than toys - and that is just awesome to see all those models! But as I read it when the contest was published, it wasn't only tools that is allowed in the contest. I do see many other designers have read it the same way as me, as there are a lot of toy-kit-cards in the contest. But from the description you are referring to, I do see that maybe Bambu Lab judges will favor other types when picking the winners (like tools and practical items) and that is just fine. No complaints from me there. I just wanted to try out a couple of kit-cards designs - and hopefully 1 or 2 likes what they see. If not, then there are a lot of other models to try :-) Have a great day
