Description

I have designed a simple case for NFC tags. The plan was to make clones of my children's Tonies, as the originals take up too much space when travelling. A magnet can be placed in the centre so that the tags stick to the Toniebox (and other tags).

The model is designed for 10x3mm magnets and the inner diameter is 39mm. If this does not suit you: I have attached a parameterised Fusion 360 file, where all relevant dimensions (incl. tolerance) can be freely set. However, you should bear in mind that the NFC tags need a certain distance (at least 4mm) from the Toniebox in order to be recognised reliably.

If you are not familiar with Fusion 360, you can also leave a comment with the desired dimensions and I will upload an appropriate model.

Recommendations:

  • Use PETG. PLA could be too brittle.
  • I used Overture PETG Clear for the lid.
  • Model is designed for 0.2 mm layer height
  • Magnets 10x3mm
  • NFC tags

Looks good I'm currently using coin containers and a printed inlay in the middle with a hole for the magnet The RFID chip and a printed image are placed on top I use super glue to seal it Disadvantage: the image is not changeable Any ideas on how to design it so that the cover fits securely, yet the image can still be exchanged? Overall, the custom Tonie should only be so heavy that it is held by the magnet and does not fall off even when the box is moved around I would be grateful for any suggestions

You're unlikely to find success with your question here on MakerWorld. It would be better to ask it in the Revvox forum (by the developers of Teddycloud/Teddybench) https://forum.revvox.de/ Edit: what speaks against printing the model here? It can be opened/closed as often as desired

edit: I just saw that there is a general forum there. I will contact them. Thank you. ——— Hi, I'm actually interested in the design of the custom Tonies, everything is working perfectly with Teddybench. The problem with the coin boxes is the same as with this design. If they are not glued and if they are thrown around, they come apart and the individual parts fly around the room. My little one is 2.5 years old and is rather careless in handling 😉 Perhaps I will try a remix of your design with a small thread… a Fusion 360 tutorial is still on my long watchlist. 😅

Also, my children are two and four years old. They have no chance of opening the case. Even for me, it's difficult. I deliberately designed the model so that the lid snaps firmly into place

Top work! I just need to print the lid with the smooth plate I'll order 😅 The lid looks rather dull at the moment because of the textured plate. It's printed with transparent PLA by the way, I slightly modified the PETG profile;)

Thank you for your feedback! I used a "Light Beam" plate from AliExpress, which are considerably smoother than the "Smooth Plates". But yes, textured is definitely the wrong choice 😅

The Smooth Plate yields significantly improved results 🤗

Love this model. Despite the case has a diameter of 4cm and my NFC tags are smaller, I went with it. The size suits the Toniebox better and the images in the case are larger. Tips: Adding some hot glue for extra weight and printing the images on photo paper so they have nice colors and contrasts. Follow the recommendations and don't mess with the printing settings of the lid if you want the best transparency.

Looks nice! Thanks for the detailed feedback. If you want an even better transparency, give this profile a try: https://makerworld.com/en/models/40765 Print time is way longer, but transparency is definately better. btw: I could upload a model with full infill (except hole for the magnet) if you're interested in.

I will definitely try the profile! And a model with more infill sounds interesting too. Many thanks!

Fits perfect! I used it in combination with 3DMDesign's Ghost Boo (https://makerworld.com/en/models/565704#profileId-485355) and 谁偷了我的网名's Helicopter (https://makerworld.com/en/models/735217#profileId-667146).

Thanks for sharing this model! Would it be possible for you to upload the single pieces as separate STL models to print with Cura? This would be really appreciated!

I managed to extract the STL files after installing Bambu Studio and by loading the 3mf Model! So all good!

Good you found a solution. Alternativly: I've added the Fusion 360 model (Fusion 360 is free for personal use). Might be interesting if you want to change the dimensions, like the size for the magnet.

Hi & thank you very much! I guess i had to learn Fusion 360 - i have a bunch of unused 12mm x 1,8mm magnets and need to change the model a bit :-D Thank you very much for the inspiration!

Thanks! It's quite easy, you just have to change the corresponding parameters and export the model afterwards. Get in touch with me if you can't manage it, I can also upload a model for you.
