After trying these picks on a real lock cylinder, and not the cheap see-through "practice" locks, I find them useless. The turner is too thick for most keyways, as are the picks. In addition, the picks, even when printed with stiff filament, are too flexible and can't lift pins that have typical springs. Nice idea, but ultimately not useful.

Thanks for your comment; I realize that for many practical applications these lock picks are not comparable to iron ones, but for practice they are excellent, furthermore my PETG tools can lift the cylinders of traditional locks. If they are too thick you could try to decrease the height of the tools with the "scale" command on bambustudio, however I doubt this will be useful as I have done many printing tests and to have a good result of bending force I had to set that minimum height for tools😊

we fall in love with our own designs, these lock picks are not excellent. it takes sometthing to be dispasionatly objective about how good or bad our own brain child is. I have picked locks, made keys with out an origonal copy and made my own picking tools and I like making tools. I want to like this but I know that plastic is never going to be a good material for lock picking application I did not bother downloading this file because I know that the flaw is the material. if you made a jig for holding real metal and and a file to folow the profile of your tool made out of metal that could be usful for prople that already have a used hack saw blade or some other hard steel and files but they don't have a lock picking set then that could be pretty cool. obviously the audience for such a tool is a small one becuase they would have to be willing to spend their time instead of just buying a nice picking set.

Not bad design, unsure how practical it is because it’s fairly flimsy but I’ll be sure to test it out

actually it is a bad design, because it’s flimsy I will not test it out, I'm afraid it will break off in a lock. but post a video of it working successfully in an actual car or house or some other real life situation. that would be impressive if it does not break inside the lock I would how ever print something like this as a guide for the shapes to cut some spring steel or a hacksaw blade to make a durable pick set. not sure that could be a kit card at that point though.

You are writing so many comments without having tried the kit yet, I doubt that it can break inside a lock as the material used is a material that does not break, on the contrary it deforms, so at most you will have ruined your lock pick tools which cost less of 2 cents 😊

while the idea behind this design is cool, it has no praxtical application beyond acrylic practice locks or f printing with anything short of PEKK, PEEK, or similar material (even that is questionable). lockpocking require a lot of force feedback, which most plastics are just not going to be capable of providing. To add to that, when properly tensioning a real lock I don’t see how the tensioning levers are going to provide enough force without breaking (especially with recommended weak PET-G. I feel that the same may also be true with the single pin hooks that are going to lack the strength and rigidity to be able to push a bound pin, which would be especially true for any security pins like spools or seratted driver pins that are notorious for hard binds and sets. other commenters have noted another serious problem—thickness of the tools and the size of keyways. All hobbyist and professional tools are made of steel (or in limited cases titanium) for a reason. that all said, I think, with a substantial redesign, one may be able to make various styles of rakes and other bogeta style picks out of plastics, but again those are going to need to be made out of something substantially more rigid than PET-G. One could also make the case for using plastics for picks for other styles of locks like warded or tubular (the latter still requiring a steel t-bar for a plastic body). that all said, I admire the creativity of the idea, especially for those living in states or countries that criminalize the purchase or possession of lockpocking tools regardless of intent. -a competitive locksport enthusiast

Thanks for your feedback, before publishing this model I naturally tested the lock picks with the transparent lock and they work very well, perhaps for more complex applications steel tools are needed, however to learn at no cost I think this model is very valid 😁

where does one get the acrylic lock at no cost ?

it may be worth trying a PA6CF. I’m still skeptical that would work, but it’s worth a try! you’d no doubt spend more than a cheap set of picks from bangood or aliexpress, but it’s worth a try.

Turned out great, just got to try it out now. I didn't know the case had a little lock logo, glad I decided to use multiple colours, it looks great! It actually fits in my metal popup wallet though I thought it was stuck for a second lol. It's about the width of 3-4 cards.
