A hang on back breeding box allowing segregation of a breeding pair or perhaps a trio of shrimp inside a larger aquarium. Due to the small mesh size it can be used for raising young once they have fled the mother.
The bug box profile does not include the hang on back attachment so it can be used for the study of terrestrial insects.
Whilst the shrimp version can be safely printed and used in freshwater with PLA, I would always recommend white ABS as a better material, especially if using it in a marine aquarium. If printing the bug box for terrestrial use, I don't think the material will really matter :)
The front window was designed to take 1mm thick glass or acrylic sheet (89mm x 60mm) which slides snugly between the tapered parts for clear viewing of the inhabitants, if this feature is not wanted just delete the front window in bamboo studio panel and replace with a duplicate of the rear panel. You can use window material up to around 2mm thick, but the size will need adjusting accordingly so it still slides into place. For terrestrial use, you could also just use some acetate sheet or even clear bottle cut to size as a very simple window material.
The box measures ~100mm x 80mm and all parts for a single box can be printed on one plate in just an hour, It requires no glue to assemble, the panels simply push fit together. If you would like a custom size then let me know and I can adapt to your specifications. If there are any features you would like added specifically please give me a shout and I can add them to the design.
