Description

Long story short, I was challenged to 3d model and print a slinky from the pineapple under the sea model, you can see the video in the link below

This toy is really adictive, BambuLab PLA Matte was great and seems pretty flexible and durable, feel free to experiment with other materials.
I recommend not to change the scale since it will mess the spring and may be impossible to separate.

sorry to read that, it may be due to diverse reasons, something you should avoid is to scale the object down, in case you did this it will not work since the gap along the slinky must be of an specific dimension. Another thing you may wanna try is to use a hair dryer to heat up just a bit the base of the helix starting point, once it is a bit warm, you will be able to insert any sharp object that will help you to separate the slinky geometry. It is also important to highlight that the best way to free the slinky is starting from the bottom towards the top. I hope this info can help you

Strength Issue:It's too strong a print and won't slinky

sorry to read that, honestly I don't know on what depends, it can be the material or other settings. But every time I've printed this it works. If it's of any utility try hating up the piece a bit, depends on the material but start splitting the slinky from the bottom that will make things easy, once the sharp object gets in, just following the slinky will do the job

sorry to read that, just a few tips that may help you: 1. start from bottom to top. 2. use a hair drier to heat a bit the area to insert a sharp object to separate the first segment, once you manage to insert the tool between the layers you will be able to split the helix
