UPDATE 2004/6/14: Created Intermediate and Wet versions of the tyre. You can find them here: Tribute to Formula One Racing in the Rain
About the only sport I follow is Formula 1 racing, thanks to my brother. When they started handing out the mini-wheels/tyres, I decided I wanted to make one.
The stand and the two halves of the wheel are printed in PLA. I used Bambu Lab's PLA Metal for the wheel. No supports are needed for the PLA parts.
The Tyre and pads for under the stand are printed in TPU. I used regular speed TPU from Microcenter, which means about 25 hours of printing. With BL's high-speed TPU, it drops to around 11 hours. Supports are used to support the top inside and inner opening of the tyre. The bottom of the tyre is shapped to not require supports and have a cleaner surface on the back.
The tyre markings in the pictures are made from vinyl cut on my Cricut. For an svg file for cutting the tire markings, download F1 Wheel Markings.svg.txt and rename to remove the .txt extension.
Now there's a 50% profile if you want to make a small one. Perfect for sitting on your desk!
Note; The tire in the picture has an aligned z-seam because I forgot to switch it to random. The provided profile uses random.
