Description

I designed a standard set of chess pieces some time ago and have wanted to design another lets say more radical set and here we have the result Chess pieces with a twist.

These models apart from the Knight are on the limit of wanting support, the Bambu slicer didn't flag any up apart from the Knight, there is a bit of stringing under the top over hangs but cleaned up nicely and on the whole pretty good, the knight was always going to need support with the snout overhang and I opted for the tree supports, there was a bit of cleaning up to do afterwards but worth while I think for the finished effect.

I'm no experts using supports and most will have more knowledge on that subject.

So although the 3mf model includes the knight, this needs to be printed on its own as in the slicer image provided.

I chased up on the Internet about sizes of each piece etc, these aren't far out.

King – 9.5 cm, Queen – 8.5 cm, Bishop – 7 cm, Knight – 6 cm, Rook – 5.5 cm and Pawn – 5 cm. The diameter of the piece's base should measure 40- 50% of its height. These dimensions may differ up to 10% from the above recommendation, but the order (e.g. King is higher than Queen etc.) must be kept.

So there you have it, A chess piece set with a twist.

A great learning curve to design.

Thanks for Looking.
